Load, Shoot, Frag

The 9th annual QuakeCon video game festival and tournament to be held at Texas from August 12 to 15 is free of charge annual 24-hour-a-day gaming event of North America that promises entertainment, action, and activities.

The venue has the capacity to acoomodate 3,000 gamers and follows the concapt of "Bring Your Own Computer" (BYOC). Other than gaming the four day event will also stage contests, workshops, hardware and software demos/exhibits, give-aways, loud parties and white-knuckle tournament action.

Historically, some gamers first organized QuakeCon in 1996 as a LAN party. This party was held to meet with online friends in person, to know the developers of the games they craved, talk with industry leaders and compete against the best players in the world.

Sony Ericsson launches new cellphone models, talks with Ubisoft for Splinter Cell in their phones

Sony Ericsson whose phones are considered to be loaded with all the latest wireless technologies has unveiled an array of mobile phones recently. The launch includes camera phones K700 and S700; Z500 - a clamshell imaging phone offering still and video capture capability, T637 and T237, a colour-screen GSM/GPRS handset.

The K700 features an integrated VGA camera, allowing users to take still pictures as well as video clips. The camera features 4x digital zoom and Photo Light for use in dark environments. It also has a triple-band GSM/GPRS phone, with 65,000 TFT colour display. The mobile phone has a built-in memory of 32 MB allowing for storage of say up to 450 images. The cellphone incorporates an FM radio with up to 20 radio stations. Also you can listen to MP3 files through a portable handsfree or through the phone's speaker, a company press release has stated. The K700 will be on the market during Q2.

The S700 has a 1.3-mega pixel CCD digital camera and a 2.3 inch 262K TFT colour screen and weighs 137 g. The phone Memory Stick Duo, Bluetooth, infrared and cable connectivity. It sports a talk time of 7 hours and standby time upto 300 hours. It also has a host of additional applications such as an MP3 music player, mobile music service, Music DJTM ring tone composer, and 40 polyphonic ringtones. The S700 will be available in the fourth quarter of 2004.

The clamshelled Z500 launched offers PoC (a new mobile technology standard for quick one-to-one or one-to-group communication, in a similar manner as two-way radios) functionality at speeds up to 240 kbps. It has a built-in VGA camera, a 65,536 colour inner display and an external 4,096 colour display that also serves as a viewfinder for the camera. It allows users to create their own polyphonic ring tones, and offers connectivity to Sony Ericsson Gameboard for gaming experiences. The phone weighs 110 g with a talk time of upto 10 hours and a standby time of 264 hours.

Sony Ericsson's triple-band GSM/GPRS T637 has a digital camera, PoC capability, a 65,536 TFT-screen and will be available in Q2 2004. While the dual-band T237 has 4,096 colour-screen, 32-tone polyphonic sound, supports voice activated dialing, FM radio and optionally offers a snap on camera accessory, the Communicam MCA-30. This one weighs around 80 grams, with a talk time of 12 hours and a standby time of 300 hours.

Also Ubisoft and Sony Ericsson have decided to offer Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell 'Pandora Tomorrow' for the T637, T630 and P900. Are you game?
